The Pediatric Sports-Fitness
Special Interest Group (PSFSIG) was founded
in 2000 and consists of Section on Pediatrics members who
have a special interest in children who participate in sports
and fitness activities. The purpose of the PSFSIG is to
provide a forum for members to discuss clinicalpractice,
education, and research issues related to children with
and without disabilities who participate in sports and fitness
activities.
Specifically, the three main areas
of focus are:
1. Prevention, examination, and intervention
of impairments in the child
who participates in sports;
2. Training and fitness guidelines for the child who participates
in sports;
3. Training and fitness guidelines for the child with a
disability who participates in sports.
