Policy

The Section on Pediatrics will award the cost of Student member registration for Combined Sections Meeting plus one day per diem for two Student Section members per year. This award will be in the form of reimbursement for the cost of student section member registration and one day per diem for room and board for attendance at CSM.

 

Criteria for Eligibility

 

Applicants must be current Section on Pediatrics members and students enrolled in an accredited professional physical therapist/physical therapist assistant education program.

 

Application Process

 

• The applicants will submit the application form to the Section on Pediatrics Executive Office.  The application must be received via electronic mail by the Executive Office by November 1.

• The application form includes an essay, 300 words or less, double spaced, describing why the applicant is interested in pediatrics and what they see are the benefits of belonging to the Section on Pediatrics.

• The essays and applications will be reviewed by the Student Subcommittee of the Membership Committee.

• The Student Subcommittee will notify the Executive Office and the awardee via either electronic mail or standard mail by December 1.

• While attending CSM, the awardees will be paired with the Student Subcommittee Chair for mentoring while attending the Section Business Meeting and the Section Member Breakfast.

• Following CSM, the awardees will complete a follow-up essay, 300 words or less, describing what they enjoyed most about CSM, what they experienced at the meetings, and what they learned about the Section that they did not know before attending.

• The awardees also will submit proof of CSM registration and attendance, along with original receipts for lodging and food up to the amount of $250 (current per diem rate) to the Section on Pediatrics Office at 1111 North Fairfax Street, Alexandria, VA 22314-1488, no later than March 31 following CSM.

• The Section on Pediatrics will then mail a reimbursement check for the cost of CSM Student registration to the awardees’ contact address.

• If the Section on Pediatrics does not receive the awardees’ follow-up essay and proof of CSM registration and attendance by March 31, the awardee forfeits the award.
