In late 1995, the Section on Pediatrics entered into an agreement with the Foundation for Physical Therapy to initiate the Pediatrics Research Endowment Fund. The Section established the Fund to strengthen opportunities for physical therapists to engage in significant research pertaining to children.

The Fund began with a donation of $50,000 from the Section on Pediatrics and was complemented by sales of the II Step publication, "Contemporary Management of Motor Control Problems." Since then, the Section has continued contributing toward a fully endowed Fund to benefit pediatric research by Section members.
